The Doctors are happy to visit patients who are too ill to attend surgery. However, most cases can be best dealt with at the surgery, including children with temperatures and rashes who can be isolated if you tell us. This makes best use of the Doctors’ time. We accept that visiting patients at home is an important part of general practice but we only have limited time in a very busy day and every patient seen at home generally takes us about three times as long to deal with, particularly when you include travelling time. If you feel you really cannot visit the surgery please try to phone
Late visit requests will be dealt with only by the duty Doctor who may already be occupied with routine work. Therefore these requests should only be for urgent problems that cannot wait until the following day.
