HRT Prescriptions

HRT (hormone replacement therapy) medications include oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone.

NEW PRESCRIPTION

At Dolphin House when you first start HRT you will be issued with 3 months of medication. This is generally enough time to see if the medication works for you. After 3 months you MUST arrange a follow up consultation with the doctor who issued your HRT for a review so you can continue your HRT if this is appropriate.

This can be a telephone consultation unless the doctor has stated otherwise.

We appreciate there is currently a 2-3 week delay in getting a routine telephone appointment so please bear this in mind and call to arrange this in plenty of time before your HRT is due to run out.

You can also arrange a routine appointment through our online booking system. See here for more information (link to appointments page)

ONGOING PRESCRIPTIONS

Once you are settled on your HRT you will be issued 6 months of medication at a time.

This will then be added to your repeat prescription so you can order this once more (a total of 12 months of treatment) through your NHS app or SystmOnline account.

After this you will be unable to request your HRT directly and your account will state that you require a medication review.

ANNUAL REVIEW

It is best medical practice for everyone to have a HRT review annually to discuss any problems you may be having, changes to your health and to discuss the ongoing benefits and risks of HRT for you.

If you require an HRT annual review please click the following link to complete our HRT questionnaire through your SystmConnect account.

Once we have this information we will contact you regarding a telephone appointment with one of our nursing team.

If you are unable to access the questionnaire please contact our reception team for help 01920468777

Please bear in mind that due to demand it may take up to 4 weeks to arrange your annual review so please contact the surgery with plenty of time to spare before your medication runs out.

PREPAYMENT CERTIFICATE

The HRT pre-payment certificate is a bespoke certificate that provides women access to HRT at a reduced cost.

Instead of paying for monthly prescriptions, people can access their HRT by paying a one-off charge the equivalent of two single prescriptions, currently £18.70, for up to a 12-month supply of HRT.
